What is the Tuition Rewards Program?

The Tuition Rewards Program, through SAGE Scholars, is provided to employees as a benefit by their employer. There is no cost to participate for the employee.

You should receive a welcome email regarding enrollment. You must log in to your account within the first six months of enrolling. At the time you first log in, you will receive your Initial Tuition Rewards Points as a sign-up bonus. Participants can receive more points over time, and these points may come from multiple sources.

How does the Tuition Rewards Program work?

Each Tuition Rewards Point is equal to $1.00 of scholarship money at the colleges and universities that are SAGE members. You can see which institutions have membership in the program here: www.tuitionrewards.com.

The maximum amount any institution will accept in Tuition Rewards Points is 25 percent of the current cost of four years of tuition. Scholarship dollars earned by Tuition Reward Points will be spread over four years of attendance.

Eligible students include:

• Children
• Stepchildren
• Grandchildren
• Nieces
• Nephews

What are the important deadlines for participants?

There are three essential deadlines to keep in mind if you intend to participate in the program:

1. Eligible students, as listed above, must be added to the SAGE system by August 24th of the year the student enters 11th grade.
2. The allocation of points to students must be completed by August 24th of the year each student begins 12th grade. The student’s reward is “frozen” after this date and cannot be increased.
3. At the time a student applies for admission to a college or university, you must submit a Tuition Rewards statement to the institution. This can easily be done online from your Tuition Rewards account.

What else should you know about this benefit?

Here are a few tips to remember when utilizing this benefit:

• You should check to see what percentage of tuition the institution you are planning to apply Tuition Rewards Points will accept. Some accept less than 25 percent.
• Tuition Rewards Points must be used by the end of the year in which the student turns 21.
• If you don’t submit a Tuition Rewards statement at the time of the student’s initial application, you may not be able to use the points.
